Central Illinois libraries receive state funding for books, technology and improvements

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Libraries across Central Illinois are getting a financial boost from the state, with new grant money earmarked for books, technology, and building improvements. The funding, distributed through the Illinois State Library, aims to help local libraries modernize their collections and services.

Several libraries in the region will use the grants to purchase new computers, update software, and expand digital resources like e-books and online databases. Others plan to invest in physical upgrades, such as better lighting, shelving, and accessible seating areas.
