The National Advertising Division has recommended that Rational 360, a subsidiary of Pinpoint Targeting, alter or stop making certain claims about what its technology can do on LinkedIn.
The decision came after a Fast-Track SWIFT challenge was filed by Project Applecart LLC. The dispute centered on whether Pinpoint Targeting's proprietary system actually "found" specific individuals on the LinkedIn platform, as the company had claimed.
According to the advertising review body, the claims overstated the role of the technology. The recommendation calls for the company to modify the language to better reflect what the system actually does, or to discontinue the claims entirely.
The case highlights ongoing scrutiny in the digital advertising space, where companies are increasingly expected to back up technical performance claims with clear evidence. The National Advertising Division, which operates under BBB National Programs, reviews advertising disputes to promote truthfulness and accuracy.
Pinpoint Targeting has the option to appeal the decision or comply with the recommendations. The ruling does not carry legal force, but companies typically follow the guidance to avoid further regulatory or legal complications.
