SAN FRANCISCO - Apple is exploring the potential of generative artificial intelligence to enhance the design process of its custom chips, according to insights shared by the company’s top hardware technology executive. In a recent speech delivered in Belgium, Johny Srouji, Apple's senior vice president of hardware technologies, discussed the company's ongoing commitment to innovation in chip design.
During the event, where he was honored by Imec, a prominent semiconductor research organization, Srouji highlighted the evolution of Apple's custom chips, tracing their journey from the first A4 chip introduced in the iPhone back in 2010 to the latest advancements that power the company's Mac desktop computers and the Vision Pro headset.
