John H. Krystal, MD, a leading figure in psychiatric research and education, has been chosen to receive the 2026 Connecticut Medal of Technology. Krystal holds multiple titles at Yale University, including the Robert L. McNeil, Jr. Professor of Translational Research, professor of psychiatry, neuroscience, and psychology, and chair of the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
The award recognizes his significant contributions to the field of mental health and medical technology. Krystal will share the honor with the RTX Technology Research Center, another recipient of the medal this year. Both Krystal and representatives from RTRC will accept their awards at a ceremony scheduled for a later date.
The Connecticut Medal of Technology is presented by the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering. Krystal and the RTX team will be formally recognized during the academy's annual event. The award highlights achievements that have advanced technology and improved lives, particularly within the state of Connecticut. Krystal's work in translational research has been widely noted for bridging laboratory discoveries with practical treatments for patients.
