LEGO Unveils Next-Generation SMART Play Technology in West Jordan Demo

The future of LEGO building arrived in Utah this past weekend as the iconic toy company hosted an interactive demonstration in West Jordan, offering a first look at its cutting-edge SMART Play sets. The event drew families and LEGO enthusiasts eager to experience a new era of play that blends traditional brick-building with advanced digital interactivity.

Unlike standard LEGO sets, the SMART Play system integrates sensors, lights, and programmable components directly into the bricks themselves. During the demo, attendees were able to construct models that responded to touch, motion, and even voice commands. For instance, a build of a robotic arm could be programmed to pick up objects, while a miniature smart home featured doors that opened automatically and lights that changed color based on the time of day in the play scenario.

The technology relies on a central hub that communicates wirelessly with each specialized brick, allowing for seamless interaction without the need for external screens or complicated coding apps. LEGO representatives at the event emphasized that the goal is to enhance, not replace, the classic building experience.
