My children have access to technology. In our household, we have one television that's used in the family room, and that simple setup has taught me something important about how we should treat the tools we build. It is easy to get swept up in the latest gadgets, the fastest processors, or the most immersive software. But if we lose sight of the people using these systems, we risk building a world that serves machines instead of the other way around.
The phrase "live united" is not just a slogan. It is a reminder that technology should connect us, not isolate us. When a family gathers around a single screen, they talk, they argue over what to watch, and they share a physical space. That is a people-centered experience. Too often, modern design pushes us into individual bubbles, each person staring at a personal device, algorithms feeding us content that keeps us engaged but not necessarily connected.
Keeping technology human-centered means asking hard questions. Does this app make my life easier, or does it demand more of my attention? Does this device bring my family closer, or does it pull us apart? The answers are not always simple, but the question itself is critical. We must design for empathy, for real-world interaction, and for the messy, beautiful reality of human relationships. If we forget that, we have not advanced at all. We have just built faster cages.
