I’m writing this article from a robotics competition in Mankato, where the excitement is palpable as students showcase their engineering skills. The venue, bustling with activity, features a running track transformed into a vibrant hub filled with tables where middle and high school students are engaged in last-minute adjustments on their robots.
This event highlights the remarkable advancements in technology over the past three decades. Students, equipped with tools and knowledge that were once the stuff of science fiction, are now able to design, build, and program sophisticated machines. The competition not only fosters creativity and teamwork but also encourages young minds to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
As I walk through the field house, it’s inspiring to witness the passion and dedication of these young innovators. Their enthusiasm for robotics reflects a future where technology continues to evolve and shape our world in unimaginable ways.
