A significant state investment is set to bolster career and technical education in Centre County. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry has awarded a $250,000 grant to the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science & Technology (CPI).
The funding is designated through the Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Program, which aims to strengthen the local workforce. This initiative specifically supports collaboration between technical schools and regional manufacturers to address critical skills gaps.
Officials state the investment will enable CPI to enhance its training programs, ensuring students are equipped with the latest industry-relevant skills. The goal is to create a stronger pipeline of qualified workers for in-demand positions across the state's manufacturing sector.
"This grant is a vital resource for our community and our students," a CPI representative noted. "It allows us to directly respond to the needs of employers and provide hands-on, cutting-edge training that leads to family-sustaining careers." The funding underscores the continued emphasis on vocational education as a cornerstone of economic development in Pennsylvania.
